Using Camera Shots

Hello! In this blog post, I will be reviewing the six camera shots I chose that were outlined in the AICE Media Studies syllabus. These include:

        → Establishing Shot

        → Close Up

        → Two Shot

        → Long Shot

        → Over the Shoulder Shot

        → Point of View Shot

Establishing Shot

The establishing shot is used to give the audience the established environment a scene is taking place. This shot above was taken by me at a view where you can generally see everything and know where the scene is. It helps that I took it horizontally as well.

Close Up Shot

The close up shot is a shot in a person, or charactter's, face that covers most to all of the screen. Thus providing emphasis on the person's emotion and/or reaction in the scene. This is close up photo of me and as you can tell, the emotion I am giving off is startled.

Two Shot

The two shot is just as the name, a shot with two characters or visibly together in the same frame and to show the interaction between the two.

Long Shot

The long shot is a shot that has the character clearly centered with it's full body, head to toe, completely in the frame. This is used to show the interaction between the character and its environment.
